SEARCHING FOR LIGHT EXHIBITION | 2009

Zakee exhibited a selection of new artwork at the Old Shoreditch Station (AKA No-One/Jaguar Shoes), 1 Kingsland Road, London E2, from the 4th 'til the 26th of September. The show then moved to Gloss/Grand in Zurich, Switzerland, where it was exhibited from the 1st 'til the 17th of October. The work, supported by Roxy Heart, saw a departure from Zakee's use of linear drawings, with a move into more abstract use of brush marks and origami paper collage. "Searching For Light" represents a journey of the mind &ndash' its quest for light and dark and the dance of the psyche. The artwork is a mixture of hand-painted watercolour, silk-screen print and collage.

LEONA NAESS (POLYDOR/VERVE) | 2008/2009

Zakee art directed, illustrated and co-designed the album campaign for Polydor/Verve artist Leona Naess, in collaboration with her husband Al Newman. The first single from the campaign, 'Heavy Like Sunday', was released on 7" single in June 2008 (limited to 500 copies), featuring Zakee's hand-drawn dot logo on the sleeve and watercolour drawings on the label. Leona's album, 'Thirteens', came out in the USA in September 2008, also featuring Zakee's artwork. A glowing version of the logo, animated by 76 Creative, can be seen on Leona's website. The UK version of 'Thirteens' came out in May 2009, followed by her single 'Leave Your Boyfriends Behind', released as a beautiful hand-illustrated picture disc.
