'West Coast Desert Highway'

With Spring/Summer 2005 Zakee continued to create simple, wearable garments with an innovative approach to print, fit, and embellishment – exceptionally feminine clothes with an urban twist.
      Entitled 'West Coast Desert Highway', the SS05 collection was inspired by a trip that Zakee made to the desert on the West Coast of America. As always, Zakee's love for the sea and the sky featured strongly in the collection, and photographic images of the sky at dawn and sunset were digitally printed onto silk as the 'Dream Cloud' print. Alongside these are drawings of the mountains, skies, and desert-scapes. The 'Karokia' print, which features on jerseys and silks, is a dedication to an amazing place that Zakee visited on her travels, previously a holiday destination for the likes of Ernest Hemingway.

Zakee's third collection of shoes consisted on her usual printed sneakers, accompanied by a strong leather range in the form of cowboy boots, gold dance shoes, sexy high heels, as well as flat and heeled ankle boots.

ZAKEE SHARIFF FOR TOPSHOP | AW05

Zakee launched her first collaboration with Topshop in the form of an underwear and sleepwear collection. Soft jersey vest & bra top mix 'n' match sets were a feature, all printed with the 'Peace Wave' design, made up of drawings of raindrops in a wave formation, as if to give the idea of water and movement. Look closely and you'll see that the raindrops have CND signs contained within.
      The collection featured knickers, bras, sleep trousers, shorts, and vest tops in two colourways – blue with light blue print and contrast pink stiching, and plum with pink print and contrasting orange stitching.
