ZAKEE SHARIFF
'Where For Art Thou' | AW04

For Autumn/Winter 2004, Zakee drew inspiration from her personal sketchbook of one of her journeys through Japan.
The 'Jima Sky' print is derived from a luxury star-printed jersey, taken from Zakee's sketches of a night sky on the island of Miya Jima in Japan. It also represents Zakee's own personal constellation. The 'Love Text' print comprises tailoring with philosophical narratives. The 'Hot' and 'Magic Man' prints are centered on the 19th Century cult William Morris repeat pattern wallpaper, a flame design, and a sketch derived from a pilgrimage to a Japanese temple. Another key element is 'Love', portrayed in one example by the detailed 'Love Heart' print design.

MAGGIE | AW04

Autumn/Winter 2004 saw Maggie in a forest of stars, a subtle mix of jersey and sweat in colour reminiscent of dusky autumn evenings, with super soft viscose mixes perfect for lounging around or stepping out.
Strike a blow for harmony with Maggie's inspiring peace signs. Make a stand for peace with Maggie on your side.

DR SUESS | AW04

In conjunction with an exhibition celebrating the work of Dr Seuss, entitled "The Secret Art of Dr Seuss", a number of designers including Zakee were asked to design and make an outfit inspired by the American artist. These outfits featured in a celebrity fashion show on 20 October 2004 at the Deluxe Gallery, Hoxton, London. The outfits were auctioned with proceeds donated to Macmillan Cancer Relief.

JOHN LEWIS | AW04

To celebrate 75 years of trading and the re-opening of the Peter Jones store, John Lewis asked nine British-born or British-trained designers to design and make a one-off piece relating to a decade from the 1920s to 2000. Zakee designed an outfit from the 1930s, which was displayed in the Peter Jones store window during London Fashion Week.
