With Spring/Summer 2005 Zakee continued to create simple, wearable garments with an innovative approach to print, fit, and embellishment – exceptionally feminine clothes with an urban twist.
Entitled 'West Coast Desert Highway', the SS05 collection was inspired by a trip that Zakee made to the desert on the West Coast of America.
As always, Zakee's love for the sea and the sky featured strongly in the collection, and photographic images of the sky at dawn and sunset were digitally printed onto silk as the 'Dream Cloud' print.
Alongside these are drawings of the mountains, skies, and desert-scapes. The 'Karokia' print, which features on jerseys and silks, is a dedication to an amazing place that Zakee visited on her travels, previously a holiday destination for the likes of Ernest Hemingway.
