AN ILLUSTRATED DICTIONARY | 2009

Zakee and her husband Al have compiled a fashion dictionary for Laurence King Publishing entitled "Fashion A–Z An Illustrated Dictionary". Illustrated by Zakee and written and designed by Al, it is available now from Amazon and all good bookshops.

LEONA NAESS (POLYDOR/VERVE) | 2008/2009

Zakee has art directed, illustrated and co-designed the new album campaign for Polydor/Verve artist Leona Naess in collaboration with her husband Al Newman. The first single from the campaign, 'Heavy Like Sunday', came out on 7" single in June 2008 (limited to 500 copies), featuring Zakee's hand-drawn dot logo on the sleeve and watercolour drawings on the label. Leona's album, 'Thirteens', came out in the USA on 15th Sept 2008, also featuring Zakee's artwork. A glowing version of the logo, animated by 76 Creative, can be seen on Leona's website. The UK version of 'Thirteens' came out on 11 May 2009, with her single 'Leave Your Boyfriends Behind' coming out in June 2009 as a beautiful hand illustrated picture disc.

ASOS MAGAZINE | 2009

For the May 2009 edition of their magazine, ASOS asked Zakee to create some illustrations and give an interview on the theme of music festivals. Here are the drawings used in the magazine. To read the interview (which starts on page 90), click here.

ROXY HEART BY ZAKEE SHARIFF | AW09

Zakee has teamed up with Roxy Europe to work as artist and designer for Roxy Heart, a new concept whereby Roxy's head designer, Valerie Thevenot, collaborates with a new creative every season to create a collection of clothing and accessories. Zakee put together the AW09 collection, using drawings inspired by 'Fly Like An Eagle', a song by the Steve Miller Band. It will be available across Europe and Japan.
      To launch the collection Zakee will be creating Roxy Heart pop-up shops in various European destinations during August, September and October. These will be supplemented by gallery exhibitions of her artwork. Watch this space for more information as dates and venues are confirmed...

Zakee's collaboration with the Japanese store and designers MAYZ (Make Art Your Zoo) continues with some new unisex garments up for sale, as well as limited edition wine glasses. You can see more of the collection here.

SHARIFF/MILLER SITE

Zakee and her good friend and fellow creative, photographer Rosalind Miller, have launched their own web site, www.shariffmiller.com, showcasing collaborative artwork produced by the pair over the last seven years. Their work may be seen as an example of how two different mediums, photography and silk-screen printmaking, can work harmoniously together.
