ZAKEE SHARIFF FOR PEOPLE TREE

Zakee has launched her first collaboration with the wonderful leading Fairtrade fashion pioneer, People Tree, consisting of a new collection of easy-to-wear jersey pieces with unique bold prints. The collection consists of four individual prints in Shariff’s signature style using pop colours and paisley and bird motifs. These graphics are printed onto three different easy-to-wear styles including a stretch mini-dress, a slouchy long sleeve box sweat, and a slashed sleeve tee. All garments are hand screen-printed on 100% organic, Fairtrade certified cotton in India by Assisi Garments, one of People Tree's Fair Trade producers who pay up to 30% more than conventional garment manufacturers. The organic cotton is from Agrocel, a pioneering Fairtrade certified organic cotton producer in Gujarat, India. Prices for the collection range from £30 to £45 and will be available to buy online from People Tree here, ASOS and selected John Lewis stores from 12 December.

LOVE JAPAN

I have created a piece of artwork for LOVE JAPAN, used on ladies/men's T-shirts as well as a bag, all sold for the very special charity LOVE JAPAN which was set up by the wonderful photography retouch company, LOVE. After the devastating effects of the Japanese tsunami the people at Love Retouch asked a group of creatives to create a drawing or photograph that they could place onto garments and bags to sell and raise money for the appeal.       They're also hosting a pop-up exhibition on the 20th of Dec 2011 at ICN Gallery, 96/97 Leonard St E! So come down and grab some beautiful work and you will be donating to a great cause.

ZAKEE SHARIFF FOR (BUGABOO)^RED

As the UK ambassador for (BUGABOO)^RED, Zakee designed an all-over print for their "Chameleon" stroller/buggy, in celebration of the two year anniversary of the partnership between (RED) and Bugaboo. It is a one-off production and was auctioned on Ebay in October. All proceeds went to The Global Fund to support HIV/AIDS programs in Africa.
      (BUGABOO)^RED contributes 1% of its total revenue to The Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. Its contribution to date is enough to cover the cost of providing medication to over 68,000 pregnant women, with the ultimate goal of eliminating mother to child HIV transmission by 2015.

SHARIFF/MILLER SITE

Zakee and her good friend and fellow creative, photographer Rosalind Miller, have their own web site, www.shariffmiller.com, showcasing collaborative artwork produced by the pair over the last eight years. Their work may be seen as an example of how two different mediums, photography and silk-screen printmaking, can work harmoniously together.
